What is Holmes Graphic Design?

A Web Ministry for Small Churches

Your church’s website is the first point of contact for the majority of visitors. That’s why it’s so critical that it makes a great first impression on guests by being thoughtfully written, clearly organized, and beautifully designed! Unfortunately, many churches’ websites simply aren’t making great first impressions, and churches are losing out on potential visitors because of it.

With the bar set so high, where do you even start? How can you create a site that makes those great first impressions and helps your church reach your community?

For many churches, the answer is simple: you can’t.

That’s why I started Holmes Graphic Design: to help small churches create websites that will make great first impressions and help them reach their community, not just by having a great design, but by helping you through the entire process of creating a great site.

From making a content strategy, organizing and writing the content, taking or finding photos, making visual choices, and learning how to use your new site, I’ll be there every step of the way to advise, help, and guide you.

Who am I?

I’m Benjamin Holmes, a pastoral student at West Coast Baptist College and graphic and web designer living in Western Wisconsin.

As a Christian, I believe the most important thing any of us can do is reach people with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a web designer, I understand that a poorly designed or hard-to-use website can hinder churches’ ability to reach their community in this digital age.

It’s for this reason that I’m passionate about helping churches, missionaries, and Christian ministries reach out to their communities more effectively online by equipping them with modern, responsive websites that create great first impressions.

Why am I qualified to help churches?

I’ve always been a creative person, but when I found I had a passion for design, I started teaching myself the basics and quickly grew my design skills by constantly challenging my abilities and knowledge.

After I learned CSS and HTML, I delved into learning about how to design for the web. I’ve learned a lot about what to and what not to do on the web so you don’t have to!

I served as a church communicator in my church and learned a lot about marketing for churches and what makes for a great online experience for church members and new visitors.

Fun Fact

I discovered my love for graphic design when my father asked me to start designing Keynote presentations for him.

I discovered my love for web design in particular when a friend (who was also a web developer) gave me a book on coding and challenged me to build a hand-coded website from scratch.
